The patient’s nose and face are then cleaned off any residual povidone iodine and blood. Antibiotic ointment is placed on the incision sites and a thin coat of povidone iodine is placed on the nasal skin. Taping will not required. The patient is helped to a sitting position and is given a mirror to inspect the results. The patient is then advised that swelling will take place and is a normal occurrence. A small amount of blood may ooze out of the operative sites. The patient is advised to continue the prescribed oral antibiotic and to take pain medications.
